The legalization of marijuana in many states of America has a great impact on the use of medical cannabis. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is also in favour of the use of cannabis, in the states where it is legal. As cannabis does not have any side effects and is safe to use.

Treating symptoms of multiple sclerosis

The cannabinoids have different effects on the body. THC and CBD are the most common and primary compounds of marijuana. They can help in treating several symptoms of multiple sclerosis.

Relieving pain

Cannabis in knows for its effects on relieving pain. Pain is a very common symptom in multiple sclerosis. A trial from 2012 had a look at the symptoms of smoking marijuana on multiple sclerosis. It was found that smoking cannabis can reduce pain and is very effective than a placebo.

From another investigation, it was found that people with multiple sclerosis who took cannabis orally had a notable reduction in the pain. The effects of smoking cannabis were very efficient than any other treatment for multiple sclerosis.

Helping with muscle control

In a trial, researchers gave people either a placebo or cannabis orally for 12 weeks. It was found that the people in the cannabis group experienced almost twice as much muscle stiffness than the placebo group. In another study, 572 people with multiple sclerosis, took either cannabis or a placebo. The researchers concluded that cannabis is very effective for spasticity than a placebo.

Helping with bladder problems

In a trial researchers gave participants either the cannabis or a placebo for over 10 weeks. The use of cannabis for bladder dysfunction was investigated. It was found that the use of marijuana can improve the functioning of the bladder in the people suffering from multiple sclerosis.

Still, more evidence is needed for the use of marijuana in people with multiple sclerosis.
