Emma Diamond and Julie Kramer are two pop-culture enthusiasts that noticed how these verified celebrities interact with each other through comments and entered the cannabis industry.

Moreover, they also host a weekly podcast with production of bonus stories and episodes like Jordyn Woods scandal with Tristian Thompson. With a whole lot of celebrities on the list like Kelly Ripa, John Mayer, Chrissy Tiegen and Gwyneth Paltrow, they have also amassed Kim Kardashian.

The famous Kardashian has made a huge impact on their group chat idea. Now, they have also launched a Patreon page in which the subscribers will have the access to behind-the-scenes and exclusive content.

The founders are of the thought that these ideas are raising awareness in general public on how these celebrities are just like normal humans. This will give them a sense of relatability which is quite the opposite from a decade ago. Stars seemed untouchable then which is not the case now. Free from the paparazzi, the website can now draw a more realistic picture of the glitz and glam of the Hollywood world.

Since when have they been taking cannabis?

In respect of having the unified passion for celebrities for cannabis, the co-founders are enthusiastic in growing the deal and expanding it more. The founders have long been fans of cannabis for its beneficial properties since their senior years in college.

The consumption was with the consent of their parents as they had quite a friendly bond with them. This level of communication helped them become the best version of themselves and start exploring their options as digital media enthusiasts.

Soon after high school, they replaced the normal drinking with cannabis because of its irrevocable value with no toxicity.

How does cannabis influence their routines?

The co-founders of the Comments by Celebs use cannabis for winding out from their stress when they feel so. With much satisfaction, they consider it as a reward after continuing all day with work.

The girls have a major respect for productive consumers of cannabis. While they are aware how cannabis can be helpful in staying productive all day, Kramer does not get the same effect. She acknowledges the fact that cannabis works differently in all people. Moreover, one cannot draw general conclusion from a personal experience. Without scientific evidence, there can be no general line drawn as a universal fact about any substance. Cannabis plant is no exception in the case.

With more extensive research on cannabis, not only regular people but celebrities will also recognize major benefits of cannabis. With the legalization of the substance in 11 states, there is a sudden rise in the cannabis industry. Young enthusiasts like Diamond and Kramer are getting a lot of advantages in the entrepreneurship. That too combined with social media platform sets a solid base for the new comers in the industry.

Misuse of Marijuana among teens in legal states, Research finds

A new research, conducted by the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health found out that misuse of cannabis among teens and adults doubled after legalization of recreational use of cannabis. The study was conducted in JAMA Psychiatry on both use and abuse of cannabis. Many states have legalized marijuana for recreational and medicinal use.

The researchers found that misuse of cannabis among teens aged 12-17 was 25% higher in comparison to states without legalization of recreational use. Frequent use increased by 23%, while problematic use increased by 37%. There was no difference found in frequent or problematic use among people aged 18-25.

The study’s main author Magdelena Cerda said that there are many benefits of legalizing cannabis use. He suggested  “Our findings suggest that as more states move toward legalizing marijuana for recreational use, we also need to think about investing in substance use prevention and treatment to prevent unintended harms—particularly among adolescents.”

Cerda and colleagues analyzed data from the first 4 states to legalize recreational use of marijuana before and after legalization. They compared the results and examined the use and misuse in the past month and over the past year. The respondents were classified by symptoms based DSM-IV criteria.

Silvia S. Martins, Associate Professor of Epidemiology at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, and senior author of this study said that prolonged use of cannabis in early age can lead to long term consequences on health. The researchers also conducted a sensitivity analysis as higher potency cannabis products are available in the illegal market. It was concluded that more research needs to be done. Silvia S. Martins explained “Given our findings on problematic use across age groups, legalization efforts should coincide with prevention and treatment. The general public should be informed about both benefits and potential harms of marijuana products to make informed decisions.”

 

There were limitations in conducting this study. The first one being that not all the people who use marijuana came forward. The second being frequent use of cannabis and use disorders are only 2 aspects. According to Cerda and colleagues, further research should be conducted to find THC potency in marijuana products and a more comprehensive assessment should be done.

Cerda and Martin’s team of researchers include other highly qualified people Christine Mauro, Ava HamiltonNatalie S. Levy, Julian Santaella-Tenorio, Deborah Hasin, Melanie M. Wall,  and Katherine M. Keyes.

Funding for the study was provided by the National Institute on Drug Abuse grant.
