marijuana in new york

There is an increasing number of voters in New York in support of legalizing marijuana for recreational purposes in the state. The legislative authorities are, however, still figuring out the issue of legalizing it.

According to a poll at the Siena College, more than half of the individuals supported full legalization. The remaining percentage reflected the same answers from past voting.

Majority of the people want legalization of marijuana in all dimensions

However, the support for its legalization has been consistent from all areas of New York state.
There were two parties present among the voters that did not support the legalization. The parties constituted of New Yorkers above 55 and Republicans. The former party represented fifty-four percent of the total opposition and Republicans made up fifty-three percent of the people who opposed the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes.

Results were different from the younger slot that comprised of people under 35 years of age. They supported the legalization with a ratio of 3 to 1 and 66 percent of Democrats approve.

The Democrats and Republicans have opposing views on the matter

The matter of legalization in the political class is critical because certain groups openly oppose it. Law enforcement agencies are one of them. Outskirts of the major residential area and upstate sections like Suffolk and Nassau have declared their strong opposition to marijuana. They won’t be selling it in the regions.
At the moment, the Democrats and the independents are firmly in favor of legalizing marijuana for recreational use. Republicans are against it with a percentage of about 50%.

The Legislature of the New York State will be adjourning the session for hearing on June 19. However, it is still unable to unify the voters at a platform for the legalization of marijuana.

Siena College polls show huge support of New Yorkers for Marijuana

Suburbs and upstate residents have concerns over the legalization of marijuana

However, voters are hesitant over a compelling proposition that is fragile in Albany. It has given the state the control to provide a driving license to illegal migrants. Among them, 41 percent of individuals supported that kind of law. Fifty-three percent, on the contrary, opposed it.

The opposing parties were having a relatively stronger upstate. Among them, 62 percent of voters were against giving licenses to undocumented residents. Do ancient people of China consumed marijuana?

mm

Published

on

People have not started using marijuana these days. They were smoking marijuana almost 2,500 years ago. It is revealed at the result of the excavation of the ancient Chinese tomb.

The evidence of utilization of Cannabis

Archaeologists discovered proof of burned cannabis that contained a high amount of THC. It was found on wooden incense burners. It was also reported that they found 10 burners. And all burners had traces of cannabinol. These burners are called braziers. They were found at an ancient site (Jirzankal Cemetery). It is in western China on Pamir Plateau.

The residues were found in the wooden incense burners. Its chemical composition was tested in the laboratory by using an identification procedure called gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results revealed that the residue is burned cannabis.

A researcher and professor from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences told the news reporters that to our fervor we distinguished the biomarkers of cannabis in the absolute first test and it appeared in the internal burned layer. As it was a great deal to identify the cannabis from the residues that were 2,500 years ago.

Moreover, there is also proof of the cultivation of cannabis in eastern China going back to at least 3500 BCE. Cannabis was also cultivated in East Asia from at least 4000 BC.

At that time the essential use of cannabis appears to have been as an oil-seed and fiber crop. But this cannabis had low psychoactive properties. That clearly means that those people were not taking marijuana to get high. They use to utilize plants that had exceptionally low amounts of THC. It means that the people of that era were also aware of the side effects of consuming more THC.

From all this evidence it is proved that cannabis was used in China from a long ago. And people are harvesting it for a long time.

Interesting fact

From all these investigations and testings researchers also found something else from the residues of cannabis in wooden burners. That is the amount of THC was usually more than the THC found in wild plants. It clearly means that the people choose the plants that had higher levels of THC and then utilized it.

They used to smoke cannabis as a part of custom or religious activity. Researchers wrote in their examinations that their religious activities were mostly associated with burials. For instance, they focused to communicate with God or the deadly people.

Trading of Cannabis

Researchers have found that the people used to trade cannabis along the early trade routes of Silk road. At that time cannabis was not so commonly used around the world. People were also unaware of its psychoactive effects.

The Silk Road played a vital role in early trading of cannabis, placing central Asia at the heart of the ancient world. The investigations imply that the use of cannabis for custom and religious activities spread along the trade routes of Silk road.

Importance of these researches

These researchers helped us to know about the cultures of ancient people. And we come to know about the importance of cannabis in their lives. It also gave us information about the human acknowledgment of phytochemicals in plants. And we also came to know about the difference between the perspectives of modern and ancient people about cannabis.

What Are the Amendments in Nevada’s Marijuana Laws?

Published

on

CANNABIS NEVADA

Nevada has gone through many amendments in its marijuana laws since the full legalization of marijuana. The latest amendment is the addition of Assembly Bill 533 in the legislation.

The Governor of state signed the bill a few days ago. According to the bill, the local administrative bodies in Nevada will not be allowed to license cannabis for social usage in business. The bill also directed towards the formation of a CCB – Cannabis Compliance Board.

Additionally, employers belonging to the state will have no right to not to give jobs to people based on a positive cannabis test. The law will come into action the next year, making it the only US state to have a law of such kind.

Employers followed the controlled drug list prior to the amendment

In the past, people had to undergo drug screening tests before employers hired for a certain job. The drugs included all those listed in the controlled substance list by Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The list also still includes cannabis, which is a hot topic among many sectors, sports being one of them. The situation has changed for Nevada, as the recent amendments have shown flexibility in terms of hiring employees for different jobs. The Compliance Board, however, comes with certain reservations.

The law was not unanimous

The law does not apply to all jobs unanimously. Technical jobs and jobs demanding precision are excluded from the law. For instance, vehicle operating jobs, firefighting, and all other jobs critical for the safety of the general public are not going to have any leniency in terms of hiring new employees for the job.

Moreover, the new law also states that if in any case, the recruiters are aiming for a screening test, then the individual under question holds a legal right to opt for other screening tests for the confutation of the test result. The hiring side will have to accede to the rules.

The law is a good call for employment rates in the state of Nevada

This will ultimately decrease the chance of association between cannabis legalization and unemployment in the state. The bill will not only ensure employment opportunities but also secures public safety regulatory measures. Marijuana for recreational purposes was officially made available two years ago in the state.

Similar happened in New York City, NY when the city council approved a similar bill that also ceased the condition of not hiring new employees if they showed positive test results. However, on full legalization of cannabis in Maine for recreational use, there is no proper law lifting the ban even though the authorities have not allowed the employers to let the consumption hinder in the employment process.

What reservations does the Compliance Board have about cannabis for social use?

The Compliance Board would be off-setting cannabis provision for social usage in mid-year of 2021. The council vote of its capital Los Vegas, however, could be a ray of hope for creating business opportunities in the city with the increment in the revenue for legal retailers.

The first batch permitted for the “social usage” would have been these retailers in the first year of the application. Until the state government permits, the authorities will not be licensing businesses relating to marijuana consumption.

It would create a backlash for the industry in the time when it is just at the point of budding. However, at the moment, the state government will be prioritizing lawful regulation of for businesses for social use.

weed gum

Marijuana gum is getting massive popularity in the CBD infused edibles market. With its zestful flavor and health benefits that are associated with it, it is becoming freely available at various cash counters in stores across the country. However, that is not the end here as marijuana gums, also, do not contain the psychoactive substance, THC.

The special ingredient in cannabis gum is the component with the most health efficacy, cannabidiol (CBD). The chewing gums are not just for pleasure purposes, and they come with a guarantee to have medicinal properties in them. For instance, manufacturers guarantee that they are helpful in inflammation, chronic pain, and seizures associated with epilepsy. It is safe to say that cannabis chewing gums serve more like a pharmaceutical product than an eatable.

The advantages are not limited to chronic pain and inflammation relief

The advantages do not stop there with curing ailments like any other regular consumption method will do. In fact, these are rendered potent enough to alleviate signs of upset digestion. These signs include acidity, bloating in the stomach, stomach aches, diarrhea, and irritable bowel syndrome that affects 11% of US population.

Researches indicate cannabis chewing gums to be effective in regulating defecation process by balancing its duration. It has been proved beneficial in treating other disorders relating to physical health as well as mental health, psychosis being one of them.

What is the composition of cannabis chewing gum?

Although the various benefits of cannabis chewing gums look great, there might be some side effects resulting from the gum, given its intrinsic property as a pharmaceutical substance rather than an ordinary edible.

However, on the bright side, cannabis gums would not get you high. Moreover, the pharmaceutical gum infused with cannabis is free of sugar and is reportedly free of chemical preservatives. The composition ratio goes as:
• Natural cannabidiol – 10 mg
• Hemp seed oil – 50 mg

It is more of a pharmaceutical gum

Manufacturers make sure to remove the psychoactive component of the plant, tetrahydro cannabidiol (THC) from the finished product that could be otherwise a cause of alternate behavior on product use.

Cannabis consumption is going on for a long time ago, but the methods of consumption were limited. With more awareness of its benefits and advancement in technology, more innovative ways of use are coming on the rise. The invention of these products serves more than an eatable – it is the introduction of the new nutraceuticals.

With the product being legalized in 29 states, the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) confirms it to be playing a vital role in the alleviation of common conditions like inflammation and chronic pain.

They get metabolized differently in the body

Cannabis chewing gums, unlike the capsules, do not get metabolized in the liver before reaching all parts of the human body through the bloodstream. Rather they function differently by hitting every part of the body without first creating any metabolites that could cause side effects resulting in undesirable consequences.

The cannabis dosage is usually low in the gums, thus alleviating the chances of adverse effects and making them suitable for handling light and moderate pain. However, there is a need for more research on the effects of cannabis gums on the consumer to fully understand the effects.
