The premium brand Lowell Herb Co. has finally succeeded in getting a license for its rooftop cannabis cafe. They have partnered with chef Andrea Drummer, a famous chef from Le Cordon Bleu. Drummer is famous for holding events related to culinary cannabis since 2012.
The purpose of such events was to raise awareness about the intake of cannabis. It was during such an event that Lowell Herb Co. conceived the idea of cannabis cafe.
The place would be a rustic, plant-filled, 220 seat space. It would provide an excellent ambiance to cannabis consumer to smoke publicly in complement with the world’s best classy food. She intends to pair her food not with the regular items but with the best quality cannabis products.
Moreover, Drummer’s innovative ideas include a consumption lounge, bright and airy oasis. The customers would enjoy tableside “flower” service – cannabis bud. She aspires to serve freshly infused food cooked in rich ingredients such as cannabis butter and oils. CBD will be used proportionately to the required dose of customers. Budtenders would help customers in their selection of the right kind of marijuana.
What were the major challenges?
The basic challenge was the lapse in the state laws related to legalized licensing of cannabis. Despite the fact that consumption lounges are under license in the city, licensing of cannabis café is an exception. Lowell has resolved the issue in a simple way. He splits the two businesses – a lounge to smoke cannabis and a restaurant.
Another major issue is about serving freshly infused food. It is not possible to serve cannabis product without testing. So, they have to wait for proper legislation in this regard. However, until then, Drummer has decided to prepare non-infused food in combination with a dessert “flight” or “sauces” or “dressings”. Moreover, the sauces would contain THC as a cooperative element.
Lowell company promised to install an air filtration system in its smoking lounge. According to state laws, no beer or alcohol would be served with CBD products.
Being the author of CANNABIS CUISINE, Drummer wants perfect pairing for food items. She recommends that Kush would go better with stew or beef or meat. A light lemon profile goes well with fish. “Blue Dreams” perfectly complements ice creams and bread puddings.
Scope of the cannabis cafe industry
According to the National Restaurants Association Survey, plant-based ingredient including cannabis are the latest trends. West Hollywood is a trendsetter for the rest of the blue states. In the future, there is a strong probability that the cannabis cafe would be quite common. As they are ideal for locals, tourists, and renters as well.
In California, renters are not allowed to smoke in their apartments. If they smoke publicly, they can get arrested.
Drummer together with her partner wants to set standards for the people who will follow the same path. Furthermore, they feel a great sense of responsibility. Wellness and educating the consumers about proper dosing are their major concerns. It is their future plan to introduce liquid diet for cancer patients.
Massachusetts To Enjoy Marijuana-Infused Seltzers
The marijuana industry is evolving and expanding as the buzz of cannabis legalization on the federal level increases day by day. Moreover, some states have already legalized its use for both medical and adult use.
New products containing cannabis are under production, and marijuana companies are formulating new better formulas for their products. Moreover, the chances of cannabis market expansion are increasing. However, the competition is also getting tougher because more and more industries and investors have eyes on the market and its sales.
The Three Seltzers
Polar Seltzer dominates carbonated water in Massachusetts. However, another local company has also launched its product and created a buzz in the marijuana market. The company launched three of its cannabis-containing seltzers across Massachusetts into the market via 40 dispensaries in the region.
Each of the three marijuana-containing seltzers has its likable-features and unique formula as well as taste. Individuals trying to experience a more active alert composition can try the raspberry-lime flavor seltzer, Achieve. Moreover, individuals can enjoy or celebrate by consuming a lemon-lime seltzer or Celebrate that formulates by using a hybrid blend that motivates individuals to become social and live the moment.
However, if individuals desire to have a more relaxing experience, they can consume a jam-berry seltzer, Dream. Moreover, the jam-jerry seltzer uses an indica-blend and generates a calming, mellow effect.
According to Eric Rogers, each seltzer has a unique profile and design while keeping in mind different lifestyles. Moreover, the three seltzers give different feelings to a consumer making each seltzer suitable for specific emotional effect.
Moreover, cannabis containing other beverage formulations shall also occur to bring variation in the beverage industry. The variety of beverages will expand the market for drinkable-marijuana-products. Besides, it will give consumers a chance to enjoy various marijuana drinks of different tastes and doses.
Formulation of Unique Seltzers
The seltzers give the consumer a warm feeling and enable them to enjoy their lives in Massachusetts and lead a healthy lifestyle. The seltzers are healthy, sugar-free, and have zero calories.
The formulation of the three seltzers occurs in the “miro-berry meets extraction lab”. The lab is within LEVIA’s 6000-square-foot facility. Moreover, marijuana extraction from the flower occurs in this lab. According to Melander, after extraction of cannabis from the plant-flower oil via special sauce is added into the tank for seltzer formulation. The formulation occurs within the tank from where it goes to the canning line and packaging sites.
Each of the three seltzers contains five milligrams of THC. Furthermore, this dose is within the legalized limit for the creation of session-able drinks containing marijuana.
Anyone can have two to three beers for the fun of the flavor they desire. However, individuals looking for a drink with a high dosage of THC can try another stronger beverage containing larger doses of THC by April.
The Need For More Beverages Containing Marijuana
Formulating more beverages containing marijuana will increase competition in the market and provide variety to consumers. However, companies can only step ahead from others by formulating better, effective, successful, and powerful beverages containing cannabis.
Formulating tea or coffee containing cannabis in various doses, inventing a new drink infused with legal marijuana quantity, and launching it into the market will most probably yield positive results for the manufacturer.
Moreover, developing something new of high quality and launching it at the international and federal level will generate large profits for the company and enable the cannabis industry to expand. Furthermore, part of the profits goes to researching and developing new formulations.
Once the beverages containing cannabis are launched at the state level successfully, then cannabis beverages will make their move towards other states’ dispensaries for sale. Moreover, to those states that allow recreational use of marijuana.
Cannabis Industry, Celiac Disease, And Processed Flour
The cannabis industry shall learn from the errors of the flour and cheese industry. Use of certain products, including bleached-flour and consumption of mass gluten, causes multiple diseases, including celiac disease. Due to this reason, many countries around the world including the U.K. and China restrict the use of mass-gluten in the production of flour and cheese.
However, the North American Flour Industry uses two restricted bleaching agents, namely calcium peroxide and benzoyl. Moreover, they use these bleaching agents in the formulation of flour. The possibly damaging point is that these bleaching agents lead to the development of autoimmune diseases and celiac.
The cannabis industry must solve and prepare beforehand for various problems to continue evolving. Moreover, the marijuana industry has been under suppression for a longer duration. Thus, it must take every step considering the consequences and make efforts to evolve.
Vape pen formulation also causes oxidation issues similar to the flour-industry. So, the cannabis industry needs to modify formulation formulas and techniques to produce products that do not lead to diseases. Moreover, there are chances that these diseases can lead individuals to death. Thus, there is also an immediate need to cut off ingredients from processed foods, flour, and other products that can cause cancer or other autoimmune diseases.
What Is Celiac Disease?
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease and is a genetic disease. People with the genetic-disease may or may not have symptoms. However, people with asymptomatic celiac disease can develop symptoms later in life.
Furthermore, the risk of developing celiac disease increases due to various factors, including excessive gluten consumption and eating a lot of processed foods. The main ingredient causing autoimmune-disease is benzoyl peroxide, as it affects flesh and gut bacteria.
Moreover, benzyl peroxide irritates the skin, causes an antibiotic response, and generates free radicles. Overall, it damages the body and causes the development of autoimmune diseases and cancer. The cannabis vape pens also change color after some time, and oxidation of its agents causes an alteration in its formula leading to pathological conditions.
Excessive Gluten Consumption And Cannabis
Cannabis industrialists must not use ingredients that can damage the body organs or cause any disease. Moreover, the industry shall avoid using ingredients that it uses to prevent the decolorization of vape pens. Moreover, such chemicals are capable of increasing the risk of autoimmune diseases like celiac disease.
Individuals with celiac disease have high amounts of enzyme elastase. Gluten breakdown occurs in the presence of enzyme elastase. After breaking, it converts to an amino acid and is considered by the body as toxins. The body begins to fight itself, leading to the initiation of autoimmune diseases like celiac disease.
Excessive gluten consumption results in a large amount of amino acid production. Moreover, the body considers the amino acid as a toxin and starts to fight the cells containing it, leading the body to fight its cells. Furthermore, mass gluten consumption causes microbiome disruption and strips away the microbiome barrier.
Benzyl Peroxide And Other Food Alterations
In addition to gluten, benzoyl peroxide and other such agents in processed flour and cannabis products can have a peeling impact. The bleaching agents erode intestinal-lining, leading to breakage of the wall and damaging the digestive and immune system.
Food is changing genetically, and alterations in the soil are also occurring at a faster rate. Moreover, genetic alterations in the plant seeds cause other beneficial effects, but few are life-threatening.
Furthermore, cannabis cultivation and production need new modified methods for maintaining a variety of marijuana. Over the coming years, how the food industry and crop cultivation changes for the better are yet unclear. However, researchers need to formulate better techniques for future healthy varieties of food and crops.
Cannabis Stocks Off the Charts
The global economy and as a consequence, the economy of the United States is exhibiting a feverish trend. Amidst all the problems, cannabis stocks are defying all odds and are continuing an increasing trend back towards their original starting value. The American Cannabis Operator Index shows a constant increase for the fifth consecutive month in February. The index is back to 93.70% up by 20.5%.
Defying the Pandemic with Cannabis
Although the year 2020 was a pandemic year, the index gains 45.7% even in it.
The index took off in October 2018 at a base value of 100. It fell to 70.64 in late December 2018. It then rallied as high as 119.53 in early April 2019 before selling off over the balance of the year and into March 2020:
During February, the index included 34 companies, including 31 multi-state operators (MSOs) and 3 focused solely on CBD extracted from industrial hemp. Five companies posted returns in excess of 40%, while four declined during the month:
Four of the best performing stocks in January were Indus Holdings (CSE: INDS) (OTC: INDXF), Red White & Bloom Brands (CSE: RWB) (OTC: RWBYF), 4Front Ventures (CSE: FFNT) (OTC: FFNTF) and Terra Tech (OTC: TRTC).
Indus Holdings will be changing its name shortly to Lowell Farms to reflect its acquisition. California cannabis operator Lowell Herb Co. took over the company Indus Holdings for $39 million. The stock, which was showing a downward trend in January, is now up 68.4% year-to-date.
Red White & Bloom has $6.1 million through a private placement convertible note, and also was able to get $8 million through warrant exercises and $7 million through the sale of debentures. They will be funding a pending acquisition in Illinois.
RWB took the Platinum brand to Arizona. Moreover, they also got to Florida with the pending acquisition of the operations of Acreage Holdings for $60 million. 4Front saw the departure of its CFO hence the downward trend. Similarly, no news was given out by Terra Tech during the month.
Worst Performers By Index
The four worst performing stocks included Vext Science (CSE: VEXT) (OTC: VEXTF), Body and Mind (CSE: BAMM) (OTC: BMMJ) Cansortium (CSE: TIUM.U) (OTC: CNTMF), and Schwazze (OTC: SHWZ). Vext Science closed a C$20.7 million sale of units during the month. Body and Mind gave its fiscal Q1 financials, which showed strong growth, but the stock was hit perhaps by sales made by outside investor Australis Capital.
Cansortium fell for the second consecutive month. This may be because of disappointment from investors after seeing some of its Florida competitors in acquisition talks.
The company amended it convertible notes, extending the maturity by almost two years but also sharply reducing the conversion price. Schwazze, which was one of the strongest performers in January, repriced all of its options lower during the month. It also acquired two additional Star Buds dispensaries in Colorado for $9.3 million in cash, debt and preferred shares.
For March, the index will continue to include 34 stocks, with Liberty Health Sciences exiting following its acquisition by Ayr Wellness (CSE: AYR.A) (OTC: AYRWF) and Medmen (CSE: MMEN) (OTC: MMNFF) rejoining.
The index and stock movement is a helpful measure. It clearly defines the trends and showcases the performance M-o-M or Y-o-Y. These month-over-month and year-over-year measures help the stakeholders to predict the trajectory and make investments accordingly. This cannabis economy and the legalizing of the trade is bearing fruit for all stakeholders. It is a multi-billion dollar industry which is one of the few that is defying all odds even during the times of the pandemic.
